When elected officials get most their campaign money from pro-development forces (Reno Gazette Journal & candidate disclosure statements) the basic tenets of democracy are threatened. Reno/Washoe County is now rated as one of the worst areas in the entire nation for housing price decline and foreclosures.

Who We Are

VSG is a non-profit coalition of conservationminded residents from urban, suburban, and rural areas in the Truckee Meadows. We are concerned for the future of the area, and want to preserve our current quality of life for generations to come.

We played a leading role in passing the 2008 Washoe County initiative tying future development to available water, and have filed lawsuits against Reno and Sparks to prevent leapfrog annexation.

Who we are NOT!

We are NOT anti-growth. We are FOR sustainable, smart growth that protects our infrastructure dollars, our environment, and our lifestyle.

How can you help us protect the Truckee Meadows?

1. Become an active member of Voters for Sensible Growth and join us for strategy meetings, public protests, and petition drives.
2. Join our email list to get the latest news. Stay informed about the growth positions of candidates for local governmental positions, and help us to elect officials favoring smart growth.
3. Donate money to VSG to help us push for better planning legislation at the city, county, and state levels, and to help us get our message out to Truckee Meadows voters.
4. Contact your friends and organizations about your concerns. Hold letter writing parties, and send letters to local newspapers and to public officials urging them to employ better planning processes.
